Definitely one of the most barmy 'Old Firm' games in living memory, the 14th November, 1996 epic between Rangers and Celtic really had to be seen to believed. Much like the incredible 4-3 match between Liverpool and Newcastle United that is heralded as one of the best matches in English league history, this blue vs. green war from '96 is the kind of the football game that simply doesn't happen too much anymore. It wasn't so much goals that made this one special, because there was only one, a early strike from Brian Laudrup, but the action was thick and intense. So much happened during the 90 minutes that it makes for an incredible story - both sides missed penalties, Peter Van Vossen skied the ball over an empty net for the Gers, and both sides spurned a whole host of excellent chances to score more goals. In a match jam-packed with great goalkeeping, it was only fitting that a defensive error from Brian O'Neil gifted the ever-talented Laudrup the chance to race through and slot past the Celtic goalkeeper. Rangers fans were in jubilation, as this was their second straight victory that season over their rivals, this time coming at Parkhead, and a mind-warping 9 League Titles in a row seemed closer than ever before.
