10 Most Shocking Red Cards In Premier League History

5. Kieron Dyer/Lee Bowyer - April 2, 2005

When it rains it pours on Tyneside. With their team being hammered 3-0 at home by Aston Villa and already down to 10 men after Steven Taylor appeared to have been taken out by a sniper on the line while handling the ball, Lee Bowyer and Kieron Dyer got involved in an emotional on-the-field tussle with each other. Although Bowyer had been known to have a vicious streak during his time at Leeds, the midfielder stooped to a new low when he became involved in fisticuffs with his team-mate, only for opposition players to have to help pull the pair apart. Toon Army manager Graeme Souness - also one known to enjoy a scrap - apparently offered the duo the chance to sort out their differences by fighting him, but with neither willing to throw haymakers once more, they publicly apologised. However, their suspensions meant that the Magpies were without half of their first-choice midfield for the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United - a game that saw them comprehensively beaten.
