Juan Manuel Fangio retired from Formula One in 1958. 59 years later, he is still the second most successful driver in the history of the sport. Incredibly, it took 45 years for his Championship wins record to be broken by the number one on this list.
Fangio's list of achievements include: oldest F1 World Champion; the best Grand Prix win and World Championship win percentage; the best pole position percentage; and the only man to be World Champion with four different teams.
Any driver would be happy with one of those records let alone all of them. The fact that these records were set in one of the most dangerous times to be an F1 driver (with Fangio himself breaking his neck at Monza in 1951) makes them all the more remarkable.
