10 Most Unfortunate MMA Injuries Of 2014

8. Renan Barao Faints, Hits Head, Loses Main Even Spot At UFC 177

Weight cutting. Perhaps it's time to really crack down on the practice. Renan Barao blacked out and fell, hitting his head, during the weight cut for UFC 177. As a result, he could not compete in the event. The problem? It gave the UFC about 24 hours to find a replacement. They did with former Bellator champion Joe Soto, who was on the preliminary card, but really, a fighter with no name value headlining an event as part of T.J. Dillashaw's first bantamweight title defence? Not good. Barao came back this past weekend at UFC Fight Night 58, beating Mitch Gagnon, but the injury nearly scuttled a second event in a row, something many predicted when looking at the dangerously thin UFC 177 card.
