10 Newcastle United Rumours That Need To Die Immediately

10. Alan Pardew Owes Mike Ashley Gambling Money

The Rumour There must be some sinister reason behind Pardew's endurance at Newcastle, and the owner's apparently blind faith in him when other more useful managerial candidates still sit out of work right? According to rumours, Pardew owes Ashley a sizeable gambling debt and is in his pocket to pay him off, which is why he's on such a low wage, and why he's basically no more than a patsy. The Truth Let's all call bullish*t shall we? The simple fact of the matter is, Mike Ashley is a poor judge of character when it comes to football. He hired Dennis Wise, he hired Tony Jimenez, Jeff Vetere and Pardew, and of course, he twice hired Joe Kinnear: unfortunately, for all of his business acumen, he cannot spot the crap he's being fed in interviews. Which is probably why he believed Kinnear was the European Cup winning manager he pretended to be. Ashley would not hire anyone in his debt - who had made a bad enough judgement to be in multiple years' worth of debt no less - to run any of his businesses. It simply would not be - so blame him for bad judgement, by all means, but don't fabricate a conspiracy for the sake of it.
