10 Players Who Didn't Fulfil Their Potential At Man Utd
2. Nani
Don't get me wrong, Nani has had some great moments at Manchester United. He's won the Champions League, a number of Premier League titles and a host of admirers. But there's always been something lacking in the Portuguese winger's game. Oh that's right, consistency? It's so frustrating. Nani has had the gift of the world at his feet, he has pace, a rocket of a right foot and a celebration to go with it. He was meant to be the answer to Cristiano Ronaldo, the one who stepped in to his boots when he left for Real Madrid. But he's just been a massive disappointment, and for too long. Nani is 28 in November, and that's usually the age you'd associate with a footballer's peak - but Nani's career has fallen so far downhill that there's nothing left for him at United. He is the personification of dead wood, and a player who has let everybody down on too many occasions to be given another chance. Nani has been pushing for a move to the Italian leagues for a while now, coincidentally just after receiving a new five-year contract from David Moyes in September 2013. Another wise move you might say. In terms of players who have promised United so much but ultimately failed in their quest to become great, Nani nearly tops the list.
