10 Players Who Didn't Fulfil Their Potential At Spurs
9. Yago Falque
Yago Falque, who has just joined Genoa from Spurs in a deal said to be worth £4 million, failed to make any kind of impact on the Lilywhites' first team, despite arriving with bags of potential. Having spent time at both Real Madrid and Barcelona as a youth player (what a pedigree that is!), Falque made one appearance for Barca's B-team - in which he scored - before moving to Serie A in Italy with Juventus as an eighteen year old. He didn't break in to Juve's team, but was sent out on loan, back to his native Spain with Villareal's B-team, where he impressed over the course of a season. At that point, he was signed by Spurs - initially on loan as a 21 year old, before joining permanently a year later - with a reputation and a supposed potential well beyond what he actually showed. A spell with Southampton, when they were in the Championship, wasn't particularly successful and, all in all, he made eleven appearances for Spurs in his three years with the club - most of which were from the bench and only one of which was in the Premier League - and he never scored. In all honesty, he won't really be missed, and that's a shame.
