One of the form players in the Premier League right now is Belgian wide-man Nacer Chadli, having plundered four goals in five league appearances for Spurs, but were it not for a slight intervention two years ago, he could have been plying his trade for a very different club in the English capital. Then a sprightly 23 year old winger, laden with bags of pace and an eye for goal, Chadli was a key figure for Dutch side FC Twente, when he was approached by a number of European sides. According to his agent Daniel Evrard, the club who came closest to capturing his signature was a relatively modest side from London.
''The club that came close to signing him in the summer was Fulham, but in the end a deal didn't go through. Nacer has a contract with Twente until June 2014, but at the end of this season he could go to a team in a big league. His preference would be the Premier League.'' - Daniel Evrard, November 2013.
Chadli would get his dream move to England at the end of the season, but initially struggled in his debut campaign, mustering just one league goal in 24 appearances. This season, however, it appears that he has found the golden touch, as proven by his clinical finish at the Emirates Stadium last week.
