Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has just been named London Player of the Year but he so nearly ended up in Manchester just a few years ago. An article buried deep in the archives of Manchester United's official website reads: Ramsey fee agreed, with further comments explaining the clubs delight at securing a deal for the midfielder with a successful transfer dependent only on personal terms and the passing of a medical. Those personal terms were never agreed nor did Ramsey arrive for a medical. Instead, after leaving Cardiff, he plumped for a move to Arsenal in 2008, justifying the decision that Arsenal had a better track record with young players than United, explaining:
I felt more wanted here . They did more things to try to get me."
Considering our midfield woes in recent years, there's probably more than a few United fans out there wishing we'd landed the starlet when we had the chance.
