10 Players You Didn't Know Nearly Signed For AC Milan

7. Carlos Tevez

When a club€™s chief decrees that he is going to sign somebody because he is €˜a nasty player€™, it€™s quite obvious that the player in question has been at the centre of some recent controversy. Where to start with Carlos Tevez? Ever since he refused to come off the bench for Manchester City during their Champions League tie in Munich in September 2011, footballers the length and breadth of Europe have been terrified to repeat the same misdemeanour for fear of unleashing the same feeling of widespread condemnation of the Argentine€™s acts. Chastised by his own support, and effectively banished from the Man City dressing-room, he collected his wage and flew back to South America to play a few rounds of golf for six months, while his team-mates tirelessly fought for the Premier League title. The Citizens did make efforts to try and get him off their books in the mean-time, however, with Italian giants AC Milan registering a serious interest in the 27 year old South American forward in November 2011. With the Rossoneri already having had a £19.3 million bid rejected, Man City were keen to get the proper value for a player they had invested so much time and money in. AC Milan then abandoned talks following Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato€™s decision to decline the opportunity to sign for PSG. While the transfer failed to materialise, there was the possibility of a deal being thrashed out once more 18 months later, with Tevez having re-established himself in Manchester, but ready to finally cut ties with the Premier League.
''Tevez would not betray me by going to Juventus. I like him because he€™s a €˜bad guy€™. He would accept a big pay-cut to come here.€™€™ - Adriano Galliani, June 2013.
Two weeks later, Carlos Tevez put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Juventus.
''Milan? Galliani really wanted me, but he told me that Milan did not have the money to meet City۪s demands.۪۪ - Carlos Tevez, August 2013.
Everyone loves a bad boy, eh Adriano?
