10 Players Ian Cathro Could Bring With Him To Newcastle

9. Pablo Piatti

Newcastle's need for wingers is desperate. Ian Cathro could alleviate that pressure to bring new wide players in by asking his old charge to do him a favour. Piatti, who is stronger on the left hand side (that could see the end of Yoan Gouffran!), is one of the brightest players in La Liga at the moment and could be one of the men Valencia use to help with their financial disarray. He's quick, tricky and has to be classed in the same category as Chelsea's Eden Hazard. Maybe not as world class as the Belgian, but very, very good all the same. He'd be an upgrade on Remy Cabella at least, who didn't exactly set St James' Park alight during his first season in England. After a slow start in Spain, which saw him initially transfer listed by Los Che, he has battled back to become of the club's main players. Last season he made 29 appearances and scored seven goals to help his club into the Champions League. And in doing so, provided Newcastle with a potential stumbling block if they do indeed go for him. Why would the one-cap Argentine want to drop out of the Champions League and head to the North East? Once more, Piatti won't come cheap. Newcastle are going to need to part with over £10 million for the 26-year-old's services, which could prove to be another stumbling block due to Mike Ashley and his stringent ways.
