10 Players Ian Cathro Could Bring With Him To Newcastle
5. Sofiane Feghouli
Twenty-five years old. Can play anywhere across the midfield in more advanced areas. Champions League pedigree. Proven international pedigree to boot... This would be the ideal signing for Newcastle. Feghouli is arguably the main main in Valencia's midfield meaning it would take a fair bit of money to prise him away from the Mestalla. Over the past few years the Algerian, who has 35 caps and nine goals for his international side, has built up the reputation of a player with great technical ability and one that can make things happen. He also has that nasty streak in him than makes most of the top players the player they are. He signed for Valencia in 2010 and has gone on to make 171 appearances for Los Che, scoring 26 goals. His undoubted quality would be his main selling point but his versatility is certainly up there too. He can play anywhere across the midfield in the same vein as a David Silva. Not saying that he is anywhere near the same class as the little Spanish magician, but Feghouli's physical attributes means that, on paper at least, he would be more suited for the rough and tumble of the Premier League compared to Silva when he swapped Valencia for Manchester City in 2010. Once again, why would the former Grenoble man swap Champions League football for the middle of the Premier League? It would have to take one hell of a financial package to get him to Newcastle, but if the club, and Cathro for that matter, decide to go for him then it would be seen as money well spent.
