The Scotland U19 international is comfortable playing in central midfield and central defence, with the latter being one of the first areas Newcastle's new football board must improve. Souttar is good with his feet and looks to be developing into a rather powerful young man. At 18, he stands at six feet one inches which means he could grow to be the set piece threat United have been longing for over the past four years. He wouldn't be a player that would go straight into United's first XI, but having him waiting in the wings and learning from the more senior members of the squad (excluding Mike Williamson of course) would be hugely beneficial to both the player and the club in the long run.
