9. Ron Vlaar - 6/4

Current Club: Aston Villa Given Aston Villa's unfortunately poor form in the past couple of seasons, and their flirtation with relegation, it seems perverse to think that their number one centre-half was inches away from becoming a World Cup finalist. Germany would probably have beaten Holland had they made it past Argentina, in all honesty, but the Orange machine proved over their games that they were impressively capable of shutting out even the most talented of opponents as well as sweeping forward to score in style. Vlaar's dependable strength at the centre of defence was a big part of his side's strong foundation, and there's a good chance he will move on from Villa this summer. Both SkyBet and PaddyPower seem to think that move will be to Man Utd, who are in dire need of defensive strengthening.
Actual Likelihood Of Move: Middling to good. Van Gaal obviously knows Vlaar from the international set up, and though Aston Villa were far from world-beaters with him in the side, his Premier League experience should suggest him as a strong candidate.
