Capped nine times by the Under-21s to date, Lingard has failed to break into the Manchester United first team - instead spending time on loan at Leicester City, Birmingham City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and latterly Derby County. Steve McClaren used Lingard 12 times during the latter half of the 2014-15 season, having signed him on loan on deadline day in February, and was a key component of the Derby side.
