10 Players Newcastle Have Been Linked To At The Euro U-21 Championships
10. Jesse Lingard (England)
Age: 22 Position: Attacking-Midfielder Club: Manchester United Nationality: English Estimated market value: £2.5 million (Likely to be available on loan) League Appearances (Goals) 2014-15: 14 (2) International Under-21 Caps (Goals): 9 (2) A Manchester United youth product who could make the trip across the Pennines this summer, Jesse Lingard has been touted by onlookers for several years as a future England international midfielder - and he has been consistently linked to Newcastle this summer. Capped nine times by the Under-21s to date, Lingard has failed to break into the Manchester United first team - instead spending time on loan at Leicester City, Birmingham City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and latterly Derby County. Steve McClaren used Lingard 12 times during the latter half of the 2014-15 season, having signed him on loan on deadline day in February, and was a key component of the Derby side. An attacking-midfielder with an eye for goal, Lingard has yet to fully develop as hoped - but if he could be snapped up for £2.5 million or less then he could prove a shrewd acquisition for Newcastle. Lingard also rose to the occasion to score England's winner against Sweden after coming off the bench on Sunday - proving he can net timely goals.
