Arguably it had all gone a bit wrong before Richard Wright joined Everton from Arsenal but it certainly unravelled at Goodison Park. Before moving to Highbury, Wright had been a club hero at Ipswich Town following his penalty kick save that saw the club promoted to the Premier League in the 1999/00 season. He left in 2001 after amassing 355 league and cup appearances from the Tractor Boys. He was soon shipped off to Goodison after a series of terrible performances saw him fail to replace David Seaman in the Arsenal goal though. His first campaign in Royal Blue was an okay one as the club finished 7th in the table in their first season under David Moyes. After that, everything seemed to go wrong at Goodison Park for Wright as a series of bizarre injuries hampered his career and left him as understudy to veteran Nigel Martyn. The first of these injures was the result of falling out of his loft at home when trying to pack a suitcase, while later in his career he managed to fall over a sign warning players not to warm up in the goalmouth before an FA cup game against Chelsea, severely twisting his ankle. He would only feature 60 times in four seasons and now finds himself in the wilderness of Manchester City.
