10 Players Who Probably Regret Joining Everton

7. Niclas Alexandersson

More of a right winger than a left winger for Everton, a position which is occupied by someone more prominent than the Swede, Niclas Alexandersson was certainly left ruing his move to Everton. The winger initially began his time in England at Sheffield Wednesday, where he quickly became a fan favourite. In his first three seasons in Sheffield he went on to win the Player of the Season award in the same season that saw the club relegated from the Premier League after nine successive seasons of top division football. As dubious an award as that may be, it helps to show well he played and the important role he had in that side. Such were those performances; a £2.5m deal to Everton followed the season after. He initially featured regularly in his first two seasons on Merseyside, before losing his place after a succession of injuries and the arrival of David Moyes. Struggling with fitness and form, and unable to break into the Everton side he left to return to Sweden and likely still wonders about the Sheffield Wednesday icon he could have became had the move to Everton never came around.
