Once upon a time, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov was the hottest young property in Russia but that all evaporated following his move to Goodison Park. Before joining the Blues he featured heavily for Lokomotiv Moscow, with his first season at the club seeing them winning the Russian Premier League and him being named the Young Player of the Year, with him later being made club captain. That prompted a £8.9m move to Everton in 2009, under the recommendation of then Chelsea manager Gus Hiddink, making him the clubs third most expensive signing in their history. However, despite scoring nine goals in 77 appearances, he failed to make an impact during his time at the club despite some wonder goals to suggest things could be otherwise. He eventually left for a return to Russian in 2012, criticising their tactics and lack of creativity. Since then his career has continued to go downhill as he lost his place in the national side and now finds himself playing for Torpedo Moscow on loan, all of which is drastic career slide for a player who was once the hottest property in Russia.
