10 Players Who Probably Regret Leaving Barcelona

8. Bolo Zenden

Another Barcelona player who made the move to England and would later come to regret it was Bolo Zenden. Zenden joined Barca in 1998 from PSV and became a first team regular at the Nou Camp, making 25 and then 29 league appearances in his first two seasons at Barca. However, following the resignation of then-manager Louis van Gaal in 2000, Zenden saw his playing time dwindle and moved to Chelsea for £7.5 million in 2001. If the winger thought first team opportunities were easier to come by in England, he was sadly mistaken. He lasted just three seasons at Stamford Bridge - which took in a season-long loan at Middlesbrough - and struggled to maintain a consistent place in the starting line-up for the Blues. Zenden was sold to Middlesbrough in 2004 but endured an equally-miserable tenure at the Riverside, and was released after 12 months. Today he can be found playing for Sunderland.
