7. Kieran Richardson

Mike Egerton/EMPICS SportWhen he was breaking into the first team at Man United, just a little after the world famous Cristiano Ronaldo, Richardson was viewed as an exciting prospect, equally capable of playing midfield and defence. However, things never really worked out for him at United, although he was still a valuable squad member, and he never built up a sustained period of action in the first team as he had to battle with players like Giggs, Scholes, Rooney and Ronaldo. Quite frankly, he had no chance up against that lot. Richardson also developed something of a reputation for being a bit flash and focusing more on his possessions than his actual football, and after a number of loan spells, he moved to Sunderland in 2007, but drifted in and out of the first team, in a number of positions, during his 5 years there. He went from contesting for the Premier League title with United to relegation scraps with Sunderland, and a similar trend followed when he then went to Fulham in 2012, where he has only played 44 times in his 2 years there, and he now finds himself in the Championship with the club and facing an uncertain future.
