10 Players Spurs Should Go In For In January

4. Jay Rodriguez (Southampton)

Mauricio Pochettino was linked with a transfer raid on his former club this summer, but he hasn't actually signed anyone from Southampton yet, though he is still linked with a January move for Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez must surely be under consideration as well. Rodriguez had a great season in the Premier League last year, scoring fifteen goals and forming a deadly strike partnership alongside the now-Liverpool player Rickie Lambert. A move to Spurs would undoubtedly be considered a step up for the player, whose emergence into the England set-up has elevated his status according, and at 25 years old it could the kind of move he is looking for to improve his game and cement his place in his Roy Hodgson€™s first eleven. Rodriguez wouldn€™t come cheap, but he certainly wouldn€™t command the astronomical fees that many other players would cost, and he has already proven himself in the league that Spurs play in - not to mention the fact that he could play up front and give Spurs more depth there, or in a formidable trio behind the striker alongside Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela. Although he's currently injured, he is due back very soon and he would be a very good signing for Spurs €“ especially given that he has already flourished under Mauricio Pochettino€™s leadership during the Argentinian€™s time at Southampton.
