10 Players That Leicester City Could Sign To Avoid Relegation

2. Jonathan De Guzman (Napoli)

Jonathan De Guzman is a name that Swansea City fans are particularly fond of following his outstanding performances for the Welsh club. Having spent the majority of his career at the top-level, De Guzman would be a great signing for Leicester, albeit ambitious. Spending time at clubs such as Villarreal, Feyenoord and Napoli, the Dutchman has impressed throughout his career. In a similar situation to Leroy Fer, the midfielder possesses various talents, but it is probably his creative and attacking instincts that convinced Serie A giants Napoli to spend a reported £5 million to acquire his services. At 27 he has scored over 50 career goals and has provided 44 assists in a glittering career that has taken him to the Barclays Premier League, Liga BBVA and the Serie A. In his previous stint in England, the Dutchman managed to forge the reputation of an effective attacking midfielder as he scored 15 goals for Swansea over a two season loan deal. Under previous manager Michael Laudrup, De Guzman led the way to Swansea City's Capital One Cup victory and even their foray into Europe (in the UEFA Europa League). A signing like this for Leicester City would be a huge signal of intent and would probably fill the whole left behind by Esteban Cambiasso. It would also sway some of Claudio Ranieri's doubters following his appointment two weeks ago. However, as is the story of many potential signings for Leicester, it may be extremely difficult for the Premier League side to sign this potential target. Despite struggling to establish himself in the Napoli team, De Guzman may not be willing to leave for a smaller club like the Foxes.
