To some this will seem unfair as Wilf Zaha is performing week in, week out for Crystal Palace but he is the embodiment of Manchester United failure no matter how you look at it. The Ivorian winger was Sir Alex Ferguson's final signing for the club but the great Scot doesn't consider him his worst purchase - that honour falls to Ralph Milne.

So why was Zaha such a failure? Well, United paid an initial £10 million for Zaha and he only played twice for the Red Devils in his single season at the club. Despite his wealth of dribbling talent, obvious pace and inevitable international credentials - Zaha made an enormous mistake signing for Manchester United.

Rumours spread around the player, including of him having a poor attitude, but David Moyes still proceeded to include him in the matchday squad for the Community Shield. One further appearance and Zaha's United career was over before it began.

Back at Crystal Palace, Zaha is now rated fairly highly by experts, pundits and Ivory Coast natives but is easily Manchester United's biggest modern failure.
