In a similar vein to Eric Djemba-Djemba, Liam Miller signed for Manchester United in the hopes he would develop into the role of midfield general to fill the void left by Roy Keane but the Irish midfielder was simply too meek to step up into Keano's mould.

Opportunities in the first team proved limited for Miller even right after he had signed for the club as Sir Alex Ferguson quickly realised he didn't have the physicality needed for immediate Premier League action - he even played poorly against non-league Exeter City in the League Cup being substituted in the second half.

A journeyman career ensued as Miller batted from Sunderland to QPR to Hibernian to Perth Glory to Brisbane Roar to Melbourne City to Cork City and currently plys his trade in the semi-professional American league for Wilmington Hammerheads.
