10 Players Who Completely Failed At Manchester United
4. Jonny Evans
Jonny Evans was approached by Manchester United's academy at just nine years old. The defender was scouted along with his brother Corry and friend Craig Cathcart and the Evans family relocated to Manchester to allow Jonny to train with the club ahead of his acceptance on a professional deal as a 17-year-old.
Evans was fortunate that Sir Alex had a fondness for youth players in his United squad as he was drafted in on several occasions to cover for Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic when one or other of the first choice pairing were unavailable - a chance Evans should never have been given.
Successes with the team aside, Evans never really showed anything more than average ability and his real downfall came courtesy of MK Dons and the League Cup Second Round. Louis Van Gaal fielded a young side with Evans, Hernandez and Welbeck offering the experience in the team - really it should've been a simple task for the Red Devils.
The game ended 4-0 in favour of MK Dons and United were embarrassed all night long - Evans was responsible for at least three of the defensive errors that led to converted chances. How he ever played again is beyond me.
