10 Players Who Must Regret Joining Rangers

4. Basile Boli

A winner of the first ever UEFA Champions League with Marseille in 1993, Basile Boli was signed by Rangers in an attempt to make the Scottish club stronger in that very competition. Dominating the domestic game hadn't been a problem, but the Gers were distinctly lacking when up against the cream of the continent. It was hoped that the tough-tackling defender could change that. Boli wasn't exactly a complete failure at Rangers, he did make 28 appearances and help the side win the Scottish Premier League during the 1994-1995 season. However, much like many others on this list, the player didn't seem to really like living in Scotland, and he was later sold to AS Monaco. Due to the match-fixing scandal which had engulfed Marseille, Boli was almost forced to leave the club he favoured. This is where Rangers swooped in, grabbing the centre half for £2 million. Hopes were high he'd become a fixture of the Ibrox defence for years, but Boli wanted desperately to return to his homeland. Staying in Glasgow didn't suit, and he ended his career back in France.
