David Robertson spent six years winning trophy after trophy at Rangers but the success led to him requiring a new challenge and he opted to joined Leeds United in 1997.

The move was supposed to lead to the left-back spending his peak years at Elland Road but after a solid first year with the Lilywhites where he made 26 appearances in the Premier League, disaster struck as the defender suffered a string of injuries that kept him on the sidelines for three years.

He may well have sustained the same fitness issues had he remained at Ibrox but Robertson must wonder how many more trophies he could have earned if he had avoid the temptation of attempting to prove himself south of the border.

Robertson retired in 2001 before returning to represent Montrose while player/assistant manager at the Scottish club. However, after playing regularly at the start of the 2002-03 season, his career was ended for a second time when snapping an Achilles tendon in a game against Greenock Morton.
