After seemingly cracking the French market, United's chief scout Graham Carr put Remy Cabella's name forward to the club's money men. A young, tricky winger with a bag full of skills who was knocking on the French national team's door sounded like a great bit of business for the club and Cabella swiftly made the switch to Tyneside. He came with a reputation of being able to light up a game and being a game changer in the mould of David Ginola. However, his lightweight physique made it far too easy for the Premier League's defenders to knock him off the ball without giving away a free kick - something Cabella was used to in Ligue 1. Despite glimpses of trickery - and approximately 300 step overs every match - it was clear that this was not a match made in heaven and after 31 games and a solitary goal - against Steve Bruce's Hull City - to show from his time at the club, Cabella was sent packing back to France. Although officially still on the books at Newcastle, the 25 year old will be hoping to make his move to Marseille permanent as soon as possible as he begins to find the form which earned him his great reputation in the first place. Whether the playmaker once more tries to crack the Premier League in the future remains to be seen, but it will take a lot of improvement on his behalf if he's going to showcase his talents in the 'best' league in the world.
