When you have spent over a decade playing for Walsall, it's difficult to begrudge any player deciding to take the opportunity to leave on a free transfer, but as far as Jimmy Walker is concerned, he may feel that he should have remained with the Saddlers for his entire career. Walker started life at West Ham as second-choice to Stephen Bywater and although he would eventually be drafted into the starting lineup to help the Hammers to promotion, a serious injury sustained in the playoff final effectively ended his chances of testing himself in the Premier League. During his time at Walsall, Walker made 476 appearances between 1993 and 2004, while in his five-year spell with West Ham, he would play just 20 times. Fortunately for Walker, Walsall re-signed him in 2010 to provide him with regular action during the final years of his career.
