Speaking of Borussia Dortmund, the American (yes, they can produce good soccer players) prodigy Pulisic was actually signed to their academy whilst Jurgen Klopp was still manager there. 17 months later, Klopp was preparing for his second season in charge of Liverpool and wanted Pulisic to be part of those plans.

The Reds had an £11m bid rejected in the summer of 2016 but continued their pursuit into the January transfer window. As they were in the midst of tabling another bid to tempt Pulisic to Anfield, he signed a new contract pledging his future to Dortmund.

"I was never really thinking about going to Liverpool." Pulisic told FourFourTwo, "Dortmund have given me everything. If I work very hard here I will play, and I love this club."

Liverpool fans shouldn't give up hope though: they are reportedly targeting the 19-year-old again this summer and are one of the favourites to sign him, which means he'll probably be playing for Man Utd next season knowing their luck.
