10 Popular UFC Fighters That Will Never Be Champion

3. Urijah Faber

Current Bantamweight, 31-7, Age 35 Tiny Arnold Schwarzenegger, Urijah Faber has been one of the most feared and respected fighters in the world for almost a decade. All of his 10 UFC fights have been Bantamweight but he was the Featherweight champion in WEC until losing it to Jose Aldo. With all his accolades and accomplishments in the sport, it is shocking that he has never held a UFC title. When Dominick Cruz abdicated his reign due to injury, it was assumed Faber would hold court until they had a chance for their rubber match, but Renan Barao had different plans. It is a shame and criminal to his career that he is on this list. He has done so much, not to mention all his work as a team captain and gym owner at Alpha Male. However, one of his guys, Chad Mendes is the #1 Contender to Jose Aldo at Featherweight, and now to complicate things more another protege, TJ Dillashaw is champion in the Bantamweight class where Faber is ranked #2. Faber is not going to fight any of his fighters, ever. He will be the Bantamweight gatekeeper to the champions, and may get another title shot if Dillashaw is defeated. He has two more big fights in his career, the long awaited rematch with Dominick, the last being one of the best fights of 2011, and dropping down to challenge Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson once Mighty Mouse clears out that class again. Urijah may be one of the most important fighters of the last decade but the hard facts say he is transitioning his career into full time mentorship.
