10 Potential Transfers That Will Affect Title Race
2. Ilkay Gundogan To Manchester United
Name: Ilkay Gundogan Club: Borussia Dortmund Age: 23 Manchester United have struggled with adjusting to the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson and it's clear that David Moyes needs a central midfielder to boost his ranks. After turning down Mesut Ozil, Gundogan could be the perfect player. News agencies across Europe are talking about the potential deal that could bring the young German to Manchester including the Guardian, Talksport and ESPN. Gundogan was part of the Borussia Dortmund team that reached the Champions League final last season and scored the penalty to bring his side level in that game, only to lose later on. The young midfielder was unfortunate not to feature in FIFA's team of the year and they'll be a lot of eyes on him this Summer. Gundogan is one of the brightest young talents in the modern game and he is an exceptional player, though his development still isn't over. He's going to be a world beater and if United swoop now they'll reap the benefits, just like they did previously with Ronaldo. Part of the appeal with Gundogan is that the player is not cup-tied for the Champions League after he missed the earlier stages of the campaign with a back injury. The German international is rumoured to be open to an exit from Dortmund but United face stiff competition from Real Madrid. The fee mentioned is £25 million but if David Moyes wants to secure the player he may have to pay a bit more. The money will certainly be well spent and Gundogan could be the key to revitalising the sleeping dragon in Manchester.
