Having been plagued by injury last season, Jay Rodriguez failed to make a single appearance. The 2013/14 campaign was very different, however. 15 Premier League goals in 33 games made Rodriguez hot property, with the forward even picking up his first England cap. 

Rodriguez has vowed to stay fit this season, and insists his injury nightmares are fully behind him. However, it is crucial that the 26 year-old can prove he is the same player that wowed fans on the south coast before over a year on the treatment table. Having been out for so long, Southampton fans are likely to have a degree of patience with Rodriguez - but he must repay the faith shown in him at some point.
