https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WxGQINDu4k Cast your mind back to that infamous grilling from TMZ. The one in which Dana White stated with intent that women will never fight in the UFC. Then he saw Ronda Rousey and she made a promise to him that he'll reverse that decision and she'll be the champion of his promotion. She made good of her promise, and enabling her to do so is the best thing White has ever accomplished for Mixed Marital Arts. For starters, the UFC would in no possible way have the heightened levels of exposure and fan culture it has now. Despite great fighters like Daniel Cormier, Conor McGregor, Alexander Gustafsson, Jose Aldo, Urijah Faber and Demetrious Johnson, none of them are truly 'stars' in the traditional sense. The average person probably wouldn't know who they are, but they'll have at least heard of Ronda Rousey. Unlike the WWE in which every wrestler is a 'Superstar', the UFC remains entirely singular. Since Rousey's instalment and promotion from Strikeforce, she has boosted the possibilities of the Octagon tenfold. Further to this fact, she has forwarded female fighting with gigantic steps. Her persistence with White and her abilities in the cage have made the roads for stronger, more progressive women in combat sports both more accessible and celebrated. Fighters like Holm, strawweight dynamite Paige VanZant and even the twice-beaten Tate are all thankful for Ronda's hard work. Without her, they would not be part of this company whatsoever. Ronda Rousey is the UFC's biggest draw, across both male and female sectors, and is also the highest paid fighter on the roster; deservedly so. She has accomplished more than merely being an enthralling watch, a promotional go-to and an undefeated champion; she has carried the weight of a company upon her shoulders and made it bigger and better than ever before. She'll have her legacy even if she retires with a loss...
