10 Reasons Tom Brady IS The Greatest NFL Quarterback Of All Time
8. Free Agency Era
Another factor that Brady has had to deal with throughout his career was the revolving door of the free agency market, which tied in with the salary cap rules, has helped elevate him over Joe Montana. Since 1992, the free agency era as we know it began and gave players leverage to move where they pleased once their contracts came to an end. As a result of free agency, Brady has had a myriad of players to work with in what are called the skill position; Wide Receiver, Running Back and Tight End. Brady has had many players come and go such as; Wes Welker and Deion Branch. However, he has still managed to be successful in this era. Compare this with Montana, who spent his Super Bowl years in San Francisco with a consistent and dominant cast around him, which included Jerry Rice, Dwight Clark and Roger Craig, as they were kept under contract with the club unless they were traded away or not kept on the "Plan B" free agency that was around, and rarely used, at the time.
