10 Reasons Why England Can Win World Cup 2018
4. Winnable Last-16 Round
Should England make it out of their group, they'll play either the winner or runner-up of Group H, which includes Poland, Colombia, Senegal, and Japan. Any of those teams, especially Poland and Colombia, would pose a test to the Three Lions, but none of them are favourites for the competition and are simply not at the same level as the likes of Germany, Brazil, Spain, and France.
In tournament football, anything can happen, and if England can get past the first knockout round and into the quarter finals, they'll only be three games away from lifting the trophy. Of course, the Three Lions will need to beat the best in order to be the best, and they'd still have to get past some big teams to get their hands on the cup, but at least the path to the quarter finals seems relatively doable.
If England can get that far, plenty of belief and confidence will start to seep through into the squad. The mental side of the sport is often overlooked, but a bit of self-belief can go a long way and a quarter final spot would also help to get the fans more motivated too.
