10 Reasons You SHOULD Care About Super Bowl LIV
5. A First Championship For A Head Coach, Guaranteed!
Everyone loves underdog stories of redemption and adversity, and this game offers the reward of a first championship title for both opposing head coaches.
For the 49ers, it’s the young and spry (by NFL head coach standards) Kyle Shanahan, hoping to avenge the nightmare of his last trip to the big game. In Super Bowl LI, Shanahan was part of the Atlanta Falcons coaching staff that saw their 28-3 third quarter lead gradually dwindle before finally falling against a relentless New England Patriots comeback.
Now returning to the championship game as head coach of an arguably even better team, Shanahan has a chance to conquer the demons that have, quite understandably, been tormenting him for almost three years.
What’s more, he has a chance to make history in forming the only father-son head coaching twosome to win NFL championships. Yes, his father Mike is a legendary NFL coach in his own right, having won a pair of titles in the late 90s with the Denver Broncos. There’s a tale to bring a tear to anyone’s eye!
That is, unless you’d prefer to root for the 61-year-old Andy Reid of the Chiefs, a veteran stalwart of the game who’s carved out a highly impressive career. In fact, he’s won the most NFL games of any coach in history without a Super Bowl ring. Could this year, finally, be the time for Reid to reach the promised land of Titletown?
Choose your side and root for a happy ending, with confetti and Gatorade falling on one highly deserving individual!
