10 Most Shocking UFC Knockouts

5. Travis Browne vs. Alistair Overeem - UFC Fight Night 26

Many people including myself were still high on Overeem, even coming off the demoralizing loss to Silva. It wasn't like he was dominated from the beginning of the fight. He simply gassed out and became too overconfident. It was a humbling experience and many people believed that we'd see a more focused Overeem. He was facing Travis Browne, who was considered a rising star at the time. Browne has his fair share of highlight-reel knockouts, such as the counter superman punch that sent Stefan Struve crashing down in devastating fashion. Overeem was still considered the heavy favorite, despite the betting odds not heavily favoring him. It showed early on, as he overpowered Browne against the cage and started utilizing his frequent knee strikes to the body. His power is undeniable and handily controlled Browne against the cage, before dropping him with a knee to the body. That's when "The Demolition Man" began to start pounding him with unanswered shots. The fight seemed bound to be over, yet Browne kept moving and Mario Yamasaki refused to stop the fight. Somehow Browne stayed afloat and continued to press the action. Once again, Overeem seemed fatigued and stagnant. He clearly wore himself out after that flurry. That led to Browne throwing a few front kicks that seemed closed to connecting. Overeem wasn't fazed by it and remained in the same stance. Eventually, Browne connected with the same front kick and we saw Overeem knocked out once again in a fight that he seemed to have complete control of. The reason why this knockout was more shocking was because of how close he was to finishing the fight. Browne was in serious trouble against the cage and the fight could have easily been stopped. Silva wasn't in trouble at any moment during their fight.
