Time At Spurs: 2012-Present. Positions: Centre Back, Left Back, Defensive Midfielder. Although he's not exactly on top form at the moment, on his day, Jan Vertonghen is one of Spurs best two outfield players (along with Christian Eriksen). When he first arrived at the club, he was one of the best centre backs in the Premier League - indeed, he made it into the PFA Team of the Year in his first season - and with good reason. Unlike most centre backs, Vertonghen is great - almost graceful - with the ball at his feet and, as a result, he is also comfortable at left back or in a defensive midfield position. In fact, he plays at left back quite often for Belgium at international level.
