Spurs signed John Bostock from Crystal Palace in 2008. The fee of £700,000 plus add-ons was agreed at a tribunal and that was generally regarded as cheap - Crystal Palace were disappointed at the amount - as he was seen as a potentially great player. He had already made five appearances for the Selhurst Park club four of which had come in the league even at such a young age. Bostock was regarded so highly that many people in the game and in the media expected him to make an immediate impact at White Hart Lane and, at the very least, they certainly expected him to become a key first team player in the years to come but it just didn't happen for him. He spent five years at White Hart Lane and made just four appearances for the club all of which were from the bench and none of which were in the league and he was loaned out to five different clubs (Brentford, Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon Town and Toronto F.C.) before being released in 2013 without having made any kind of impact in London. He ended up signing for Belgian second-tier side Royal Antwerp in 2013, where he spent a year before moving to their league rivals Oud-Heverlee Leuven, where he still plays now.
