Leigh Mills arrived at White Hart Lane as a sixteen year old in 2004. Before having made a senior appearance for his previous club Swindon Town, he garnered interest from a number of Premier League clubs - including Everton - but opted to sign for Spurs. Mills rose to prominence in youth football, developing a reputation as a solid central defender, and began catching the eye of top clubs when he captained the England Under-16 side to victory over Wales. A lot was expected of him after this and he was viewed as a potential senior international. He spent five years at Spurs enjoying loan spells at Brentford and Gillingham in that period but he failed to make an impression on the first team and was released from his contract in 2009. Now, at the age of just 26 years old, he has retired from the professional game and has spent the last few seasons playing for the likes of Winchester City, Eastleigh and Blackfield and Langley. He has recently taken a break from football completely in order to concentrate on his family and his job at a school.
