10 Spurs Players Who Threw A Major Strop

1. Dimitar Berbatov

The Bulgarian enigma was as brilliant as he was a sulk. Carlos Tevez was practically driven out of the country for not coming off the bench for Manchester City three years ago - what most don€™t know is that Berbatov is guilty of the very same offence. For the trouble he caused at White Hart Lane, that was only scraping the tip of the iceberg, however. Unimpressed with Martin Jol€™s decision to bench him at St. James€™ Park in October 2007, the Bulgarian reportedly had to be asked three times before he eventually relented and came on as a surly substitute.
''We all saw what Berbatov is made of when he was sat sulking on the bench at Newcastle the other night with a face like a big baby. He۪s not the striker he was a year ago, and from what I۪ve seen, he looks to be disinterested and playing for himself rather than his team. His attitude is terrible and his behaviour at St. James۪ Park sent out all the wrong signals. Maybe he۪s sulking because he didn۪t get a move to Manchester United in the summer. But he۪s done himself no favours on that account because I know for a fact Alex Ferguson would never stand for any player who behaves the way Berbatov has done this week.۪۪ - Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp, October 2007.
Perhaps the Portsmouth boss spoke too soon, as ten months later Berbatov was dialling up his sulk-ometer to force through a move to a willing Manchester United. Spitting his dummy out in dramatic fashion, the Bulgarian sensationally downed tools and simply refused to play for the club, prompting them to accept a bid from Manchester United. Leaves a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth, doesn€™t it? So that's a wrap - what do you think? Have there been any glaring omissions?
