An oddball transfer that was solely the result of Evertons corporate tie-up with Kejian, China international Li Weifeng joined the Blues in 2002 along with compatriot Li Tie. While his follow countryman was a success at Goodison Park, Weifeng was living proof that you should never let your shirt sponsor have a hand in player recruitment. He made only two appearances for the Toffees before returning to the Chinese Super League. Although the centre-back was never of Premier League calibre, who won virtually every trophy Chinese football has to offer when he returned to the Far East and earned more than 100 caps at international level.
