Stephen Pond/EMPICS SportStephen Pond/EMPICS SportMan City should have known this one was never going to work out. Tal Ben Haim had just one season prior failed to make the grade at Premier League rivals Chelsea, yet the Citizens still took a gamble on the Israeli international when they plucked him from the Blues in 2008. Ben Haim had struggled to nail down a starting berth in his favoured centre-back role at Stamford Bridge, making just 13 appearances. He made even less at the Etihad, with the defender managing but nine outings for the Sky Blues, and was even loaned out to Sunderland just SEVEN months into his stay at City. He was eventually flogged to Portsmouth after just 12 months when it quickly became apparent he had no future in Manchester.
