6. Peter Schmeichel
Neal Simpson/EMPICS SportAndy Cole isn't the only former Manchester United hero to play for his old club's derby rivals. Peter Schmeichel did also - but this one perhaps made the biggest shock-waves. After spending eight glittering years at Old Trafford, where he captained the club in the absence of Roy Keane in their famous 1999 Champions League final win over Bayern Munich, Schmeichel stunned many fans when he made the switch to the Blue half of Manchester just three years later. Perhaps unfairly, some sections of United's fan base considered the Dane a Judas-type figure, for betraying the Red Devils and playing for their deadly rivals. In the end, all the hassle wasn't worth it. Schmeichel only lasted one season at the Citizens, and announced his retirement from football thereafter. The goalkeeper had an incredible record in Manchester derbys, in that he was never on the losing side.
