10 Strangest Ever Spurs Signings

1. Grzegorz Rasiak

Neal Simpson/EMPICS SportNeal Simpson/EMPICS SportWithout any shadow of a doubt, the weirdest signing that Tottenham Hotspur have ever made is Grzegorz Rasiak. The Polish target man was brought in from Derby County (who were a Championship team at the time), by Dutchman Martin Jol, on the stroke of midnight on transfer deadline day in August 2005. He had scored a relatively impressive 18 goals in 41 league games for the Rams, but he was 26 at the time and had never played at anything close to a Premier League level and, after having been linked with a host of big-name strikers, the acquisition disappointed Spurs fans enormously. He cost the club £2.25m and made nine appearances without scoring a single goal, before joining Southampton who, at the time, were playing more at his level. Rasiak has since seen his career deteriorate and, at the age of 35, he currently plays his football in his native country with Warta Pozna„ (in the third tier of the Polish football pyramid). So there you have it - the ten strangest ever Spurs signings. Did you like this article? Do you agree with it? Were any of Spurs' signings from further back in history as strange as these ones (we are aware that most of these are relatively recent, but that's just the way it went)?
