10 Strikers Spurs Should Still Be Looking To Sign
8. Christian Benteke
Christian Benteke has been strongly linked to White Hart Lane for quite some time and he was thought by many to be a sure fire signing for Daniel Levy and then Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas. The move never materialised and Benteke signed a new contract with Aston Villa at the start of last season, disappointing fans of the Lilywhites.
Last season, Benteke continued where he left off in his breakthrough season at Aston Villa, reaching double figures in the scoring stakes yet again, despite spending a couple of spells on the sidelines with injury.
That said, he didn't quite look like the same player he had previously been and that could be due to the fact that he is becoming disillusioned with life at a club who arent challenging at the top of the league. After deciding against a move when Spurs previously showed interest in him, Benteke may want to move on and make the step if they show interest again and they really could do with a man of his proven Premier League calibre up top.
The Belgian is currently out injured, but Villa manager Paul Lambert has said he should be back within "a few weeks" and Spurs shouldn't let the injury put them off signing a player like Benteke.
