10 Summer 2017 Football Transfer Sagas We're Most Excited For

1. Cristiano Ronaldo To Manchester United

Come on, we all want to see it. Even the most cynical of football fans would be pretty excited about Cristiano Ronaldo returning to English football.

We should temper things slightly by pointing out that Ronaldo's apparent desire to leave Spain could all be one big, scare mongering, ploy. Without going into too much heavy detail, the man with the neck of a horse has been accused of defrauding the Spanish tax authorities to the tune of thirteen million smackers, an allegation he denies. So he's saying “!*$% to you, Spain. I'm going somewhere where they love me” and boy is he loved in one half of Manchester.

Since Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one his way out of Manchester United and the possibility that Wayne Rooney could follow him, there's certainly some big, superstar sized vacancies in the United team. Given the way Ronaldo has adapted his game now that he's in his thirties, he may see himself at being the main focal point of the attack and have a desire to occupy the number nine role. With goalscoring abilities to rival anyone, a stunning aerial threat and still a decent amount of pace, it would be fascinating to see how Jose Mourinho uses him.

Even if he just played in his more familiar roles behind the centre forward, Ronaldo would massively boost a United attack that already contains the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford. We can then all look forward to Man United drawing Real Madrid in the Champions League and Ronaldo scoring the winner at the Bernabeu to see his old side off. Delicious.
