10 Sunderland Turncoats Who Played For Newcastle

6. Paul Robinson

The man Ruud Gullit played instead of Alan Shearer in THAT rainy derby at St James' Park in 1999 was a mackem... If the decision wasn't already baffling enough, sticking a Sunderland fan in a Newcastle shirt in the place of a true Mag is nothing short of stupid. What was Ruud thinking? Robinson was born in Sunderland but played the majority of his youth football in Darlington before Newcastle came calling in 1998. Eleven league appearances and no goals later and the highly thought of forward was on his way to Wimbledon, where by all accounts, his career ended. (You can't claim that playing for the likes of Horden Colliery Welfare, Beaconsfield SYCOB and three spells at Jarrow Roofing is the continuation of a professional career!)
