Wenger has often sourced promising stars from the French leagues and Ivorian striker Gervinho was one that many thought would help fire Arsenal back towards the top of English football. Unfortunately, he couldnt handle the step up from France to England and struggled throughout a dismal two-year spell in London. Gervinho scored just nine league goals before being shipped out to Serie A side Roma. There, the rejuvenated attacker played a key role in Rudi Garcias Italian revolution, proving that he can play well in spite of his awful showings for the Gunners. The fact his spell at Arsenal is probably best remembered for a spat with Joey Barton, which result in a red card for the Ivorian, tells you everything about those forgettable two seasons. Nonetheless, he has shown talent elsewhere.
